FSPA Announces Person of the Year, HOF Inductees

SARASOTA- The Florida Swimming Pool Association recently announced their Person of the Year award and Hall of Fame inductees at the 2019 Everything Under the Sun Expo, the premier event of the swimming pool industry for pool and spa professionals.

The 2018 FSPA Person of the Year was awarded to Brian Kelly.  Brian was an active member of FSPA over the last 12 years.  He started by serving on the Broward Chapter Board of Directors, culminating in two one-year terms as president.  At the end of his tenure with the Broward Chapter, he was asked and accepted a position on the FSPA executive committee.  Brian has served in every position on the executive committee, including president in 2018.

“During his tenure on the executive committee, he guided the FSPA through a myriad of positive changes,” said Wendy Parker Barsell, Executive Director at FSPA.  “He is well respected amongst pool and spa professionals and is well-known as someone who is working for the betterment of the industry.”

Brian, while traveling thousands of miles throughout the state on behalf of FSPA and the swimming pool industry, still managed to build a successful family business, Shamrock Pools, into one of the preeminent service, remodel and repair companies in south Florida.

Brian was also nominated into FSPA’s Hall of Fame.

FSPA also announced the induction of  Bjarne “Ike” Eikevik, Jr. into its 2019 Hall of Fame class.  Ike was recognized for his willingness to go above and beyond in the pool industry while serving as an exemplary role model for other pool and spa professionals.

“Ike was a role model and set a high standard in south Florida for business morals and honesty,” said Barsell.  “He helped in building many careers and encouraged everyone’s participation in NSPI / FSPA.”

Ike also built a successful business, Ike’s Carter Pool Company, which has continued on since his passing in 2011, will celebrate its 70th anniversary this year.
