Fort Myers News-Press: Water Medic of Cape Coral employee named Florida Swimming Pool Association’s Service Pro of the Year

For someone who moved to Florida with intentions of landing a job as a cabinet maker, things have worked out pretty good for Rod Siliski.

And the company he works for today is also happy with the way things turned out.

“Rod is one of the best employees we have,” said Jake Lincoln, service manager for Water Medic, a Cape Coral-based company that employees 50 people and provides a variety of swimming pool and water services.

"He really loves his job and it shows.”

Siliski, 52, was selected as the Florida Swimming Pool Association’s Service Pro of the Year for 2018. He received the honor at a special ceremony in Orlando in February at the 2018 Everything Under the Sun Expo. Each local FSPA chapter had the opportunity to choose a winner in their area.

The Florida Swimming Pool Association is a trade association for the pool and spa industry in Florida. There are approximately 700-member businesses in 16 chapters across the state.

Siliski, along with two other individuals from other FSPA chapters, was recognized for excellence in customer satisfaction and the positive results that he produced as a pool and spa service professional.

“This award recognizes those professionals who demonstrate their technical knowledge and their outstanding customer service skills every day in backyards of consumers across Florida,” said Wendy Parker Barsell, FSPA Executive Director, in a press release.  “Rod has been known to go above and beyond as a pool professional not just by his employees, but by his customers too.”

It is something Lincoln and many of Siliski’s customers see on a regular basis.

“We are so honored and blessed he won,” Lincoln said. “His customers compliment him, and we get nervous calls when he’s on vacation. Customers have a peace of mind because they have Rod servicing their property.”

Siliski moved to Southwest Florida from Minnesota. Now a senior pool technician, he has been working for Water Medic for the past five year. Water Medic is owned by Richard Jackson, who started the business in 2000. Water Medic services 1,200 pools in Cape Coral and around Southwest Florida on a weekly basis.

Siliski’s territory includes North Fort Myers, Alva, Lehigh Acres, Gateway and Fort Myers. He was working in a stainless steel fabrication plant in Minnesota before making the move south.

“We had family down here and I also wanted to get away from the cold,” Siliski said.
