Scholarship Stories: Starner Helping Develop the Next Generation of Leaders

Isabelle Starner, a USF-Sarasota/Manatee Interdisciplinary Social sciences major, is looking forward to graduating this spring.

The FSPA Scholarship winner is currently holding down an internship in the office of Student Engagement for her school.

“It’s been awesome so far,” said Isabella.  “With my role I’m charge of holding leadership events.  These events help our students figure out who they are as a leader and how they can better themselves as someone in charge.”

This role is helping students mold into the type of team player that will make them attractive to perspective employers after graduation.

Isabelle already has her sights set on the next goal and challenge in her professional and academic career.

“I’m going to go get my Master’s degree,” said Isabella.  “Professionally, I really would like to do what I’ve been doing with my current internship.  That’s the goal.”

Isabella will look back at her college career knowing that FSPA was there for her to provide support.

“The scholarship has helped me out so much,” said Isabella.  “It has allowed me to focus on school more and not on working to make money.”

Isabella is no stranger to the pool industry and FSPA.  Her father, Todd Starner, has been a member with FSPA for years and runs his own pool-servicing company, Starner Pools in Bradenton.

“I’d absolutely recommend every student with an FSPA connection apply to this scholarship,” said Isabella.  “It can change your life while you’re in college.”

Isabella is planning to attend USF in Tampa for her Master’s program.
