The Chapter would like to welcome Clear Water Pools as
our newest Chapter member. We have a great year planned for 2019! We look
forward to seeing you at the upcoming events.
On June 22 many Chapter members got to experience the Team
Kareem Foundation Memorial Walk at Kissimmee Lakefront Park. The Chapter donated
$2,500 to this cause to raise water safety awareness and give the opportunity
for free swim lessons to those who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford them.
Are you familiar with PIPAC, the Pool Industry Political
Action Committee? The pool industry has been dealing with monumental issues
including the scope of work within a pool license, potentially impacting daily
operations of your businesses. FSPA has been in reactive mode because of
decisions being made by bureaucrats, individuals and boards who may not have
the expertise of pool industry professionals. PIPAC funds will allow FSPA to
strengthen and leverage the collective voice in support of sound public policy
regarding the safety of the products produced and installed by the pool
industry, and create and sustain an environment in which their businesses can
grow. At the state Board of Directors meeting in June, the PIPAC Chairman Adam
Alsott, Tropical Pools, kicked off the three year goal of raising
$500,000. He made a contribution of $5,000, noting that the work ahead of
us is big and will require support from everyone. Ben Evans, American
Pools & Spas, matched Adam's gift and pledged that the Central Florida
Chapter will contribute $5,000 when five members have given $5,000. In
addition, the FSPA Board voted to match members' contributions to PIPAC over
the next three years up to $150,000. Make your voices heard…donate today! For
more information and to make your contribution contact Sonja or visit www.PoolPAC.com.
We look forward to seeing you all on July 19. The Chapter
will be hosting a Member’s Appreciation Night at the Drive Shack at 6:30 p.m!
Invite your employees, family and friends for a fun night out with the pool
industry! Entry is $25 per member and includes three hours of golf, dinner,
unlimited soft drinks, two drink tickets and a cash bar. Entry is $50 for
non-members. Remember that all employees of a member company are members of the
Mix and mingle. Have a canapé and a cocktail with your local
representative on Tuesday, August 13 at 6:00 p.m. at the Citrus Club. Make sure
you RSVP to Sonja. Please dress accordingly: Jacket and slacks please; no
shorts, tennis shoes or flip flops.
On September 3 come on out to meet Holly Salmon from the
Better Business Bureau (BBB). She will give us a short explanation of what the
BBB does and how they can help your business. Following Holly’s brief
presentation, learn the Swimming Pool & Spa Basic Electrical Requirements
(CILB course #0612739, two hour, meets PE requirement, FPSA d/b/a FSPA CILB
Providership #0000917) taught by David Pruette, David Pruette’s Electrical
Services. The class is free to members and $15 for non-members. Look out
for emails about time and location coming to your inbox soon.
The next Chapter Board meeting, which all members are
encouraged to attend, will be Friday, July 19 at 5:00 p.m. at Drive Shack prior
to our member appreciation night.
